Culpeper has been with the von Essen hotels group since April 2008.

Culpeper ranges of natural herb based products cover four main categories -wellbeing, kitchen, home and garden.

"A life inspired by herbs"
When Culpeper was originally established in 1927 by Hilda Leyel, a Herbal Therapist, Writer and Cook, her whole philosophy was that the business she created was based on the use of natural herbs/plants in everyday life.

Our Unique Selling Point is our Heritage
Established on St.Valentines Day in 1927, Hilda Leyel was a pioneer of her time. She was the founding member of the Society of Herbalists, and focused her business in Central London, opening at 10, Baker Street. She took the name Culpeper, from Nicholas Culpeper, the 17th Century Apothecarist. We now have 10 shops in the UK.

Natural pure ingredients
Our aim is to ensure that we only use natural and pure ingredients in our products and, if appropriate, we will use organic and ‘Soil Association’ accredited ingredients.

Provenance of our ingredients
Our desire to use only natural and pure ingredients means that we have to be absolutely clear on who is providing our ingredients and where they come from. The ability to trace back to source is a must.

Integrity of our products
The quality of our products and therefore their ability to deliver what they say they deliver, is very important in satisfying customers’ requirements.

Creating Brand "Fans"
The future development of the brand depends on our ability to create brand "Fans", i.e. people who buy and use our products on a regular basis, because they love them.

Stories behind our products
Whether it be the heritage, history, recipes or sourcing of our ingredients and products, we have a wonderful opportunity to tell the stories to our customers.

Respect and care for our environment
It has always been, and will continue to be, a key part of the Culpeper brand philosophy that we show respect and care for our environment. The very fact that we are providing consumer goods and a service inevitably means that we have a significant impact on the environment around us.

At the same time, we have the opportunity of constantly reviewing that impact, and working on solutions to minimise its effect...this applies to sustainable sourcing of raw ingredients, through to packaging and presentation of final products.
