A hardy perennial that grows into a very stately and colourful flowering plant with tapering spikes of purple-red flowers from June until August and dark green willow-like leaves. It makes an excellent gargle and wound cleanser and can be used to rapidly stop bleeding. Grows 1m to 2m tall.

Directions
Sow outside from March to May in a very fine seed bed. The seed is like dust and should barely be covered or, preferably, just watered in with a very fine watering can rose. Prefers sun or partial shade in a moist position that does not dry out. Harvest from June to July when the plant is flowering.
