Mrs C. F. (Hilda) Leyel was the founder of Culpeper stores in 1927 and also the acclaimed Society of Herbalists, now The Herb Society (the UK's leading society for increasing the understanding, use and appreciation of herbs and their benefits to health).

Mrs Leyel was also a keen gardener and cook, penning such indispensable titles of the day as 'Picnics for Motorists', 'Summer Drinks and Winter Cordials' and 'The Complete Jam Cupboard'. Here, we salute her deep knowledge and passion for the home-produced with our contemporary twists on her handmade jams and chutneys. Apply liberally!

Our honey is from Vivian’s Honey Farm in Devon produced by bees that gather their pollen from the rich clover pastures and wild moorlands of West Devon and Cornwall.
